Creating triploid cannabis employs a process that has already been used in commercial agriculture for years with grapes and watermelons being just two such crops. The process of creating triploid plants comes with many advantages.

Standard cannabis plants have two sets of chromosomes, so-called diploid strains. Triploid plants, on the other hand, possess three sets. Triploid plants are consistent and uniform phenotypically, and almost completely infertile which means that a rogue male plant in the vicinity won’t pollinate a crop of female plants thereby reducing potency. They grow larger plants, buds, fruit etc, albeit more slowly than untreated plants, providing higher yields. Such plants produce more cannabinoids and terpenes, and they also have greater resistance to a range of stressors such as plant pests, diseases, heat, drought etc.
